Idaho Fish and Game

Lion Plan Adopted

idfg-staff
Meeting in McCall July 17-19, the Idaho Fish and Game Commission adopted a mountain lion management plan that makes only minor changes to lion hunting. The draft plan drew 60 comments during its public review period this spring, 32 percent from hunters other than lion hunters, 27 percent from lion hunters, and the rest from non-hunters. Lion hunters said they want more lions while other hunters indicated they prefer fewer. The new plan aims to adjust numbers in some lion hunts but retains the structure in most areas that Idaho has used for many years. Commissioners adopted the plan with minor edits that staff had made to the draft.
