Leftover Deer And Elk Permits On Sale July 16

idfg-staff
Deer and elk permits which were not issued in the recent controlled hunt drawing will go on sale, first come, first served, at all hunting and fishing license vendors Monday, July 16. They are not available over the phone or Internet. Sales will begin at vendors, and the regional office in Jerome, at 10 a.m. The previously 1 date for the sale fell on a Sunday, so the Fish and Game Commission changed it to a regular workday, when more vendors would be open to serve the public. A proxy buyer may make the purchase for a hunter who is unable to get to a vendor when the sale starts. The best way to do this is to fill out the controlled hunt worksheet/application on page 17 of the rulebook and take it to the vendor. One person can make purchases for up to four. Hunters should make sure the person doing the buying knows the second choice in case the first choice is already sold out. The cost will be $6.50 per person for each application and permit, plus the cost of each individual tag. In the Magic Valley Region only antlerless deer tags are available; they are in units 43, 48, 49, 52, and 44-2 (special youth hunt). Elk permits in this region are for only antlerless elk also; they include 16 permits in area 48-2 and 25 permits in area 48-3. A complete listing of leftover tags statewide is available on the Fish and Game website, http://www2.state.id.us/fishgame.
