idfg-staff
The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is encouraging first-time bow hunters to sign up for the season's last remaining bowhunter education course, scheduled for July 11, 12, 17 and 21 in Lewiston. This course will be the last opportunity to get the required training before archery season begins. Anyone who has not previously held a valid archery permit in Idaho or another state is required to complete the bow hunter education course before they can purchase an Idaho Archery Permit. This permit is required for all archery-only hunts. Archers will be required to provide proof of a previously held archery stamp from any state, or completion of any bow hunter education course. The course will average 12 hours, with ethics, hunter responsibility and safety emphasized throughout. Students will learn and participate through lectures, demonstrations, group discussion and dilemmas, practical exercises and field day activities. Students must be at least 11-years old to register. Fees for the workbook and course materials is $8.00. Parents or legal guardians are encouraged to accompany the students to the first meeting. For more information or to register, contact IDFG at 799-5010, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
