According to Hand, next year's Free Fishing Day events will be expanded and held on June 11, 2005. Most of the same sponsors are planning to be involved again, and IDFG is looking forward to additional fishing events around the region. Kids Catch More Than Fish at Free Fishing Day

LEWISTON - More than 570 young anglers and parents took advantage of the nine Free Fishing Day events sponsored by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) in the Clearwater Region on Saturday, June 12.
Many anglers caught several fish and even won fishing poles, free tackle and dined on free hotdogs, deep-fried fish fillets and soda at four of the nine events.
"It was a tremendous success," said Robert Hand, Fish and Game IDFG fisheries biologist. "Over 350 tackle boxes and dozens of fishing combos were given out, but the real success were the families enjoying the outdoors together."
The Clearwater and Nez Perce National Forests and Bureau of Land Management also played a key role at several events. Sponsors and groups who assisted include:
