Hunting or Fishing License Is the Gift That Lasts All Year

Want to find your favorite outdoor enthusiast a gift that's always in style, isn't the wrong size or color, and is useable everyday of the year? Go to any Idaho Department of Fish and Game office around the state and buy them a gift certificate for a 2009 hunting and fishing license. "Gift certificates are a great option and stocking stuffer," said Sally Rose, Fish and Game administrative assistant. "Adult residents age 18 and over have to purchase their own license because they need to show proof of residency, and giving them a gift certificate is the best way to get them their hunting and fishing license for Christmas." Idaho Fish and Game gift certificates can be redeemed only at Fish and Game regional offices. Several options and price ranges are available for the gift buyer to consider. Lifetime licenses cost from $276.75 to $1,113.00, depending on the age of the recipient. Seasonal licenses sell for $7.25 for junior's hunting, to $117.25 for the Sportsman's Package. A fishing license costs $25.75. "The sportsman's package is the best buy for any avid sportsman," Rose said. "The package gives them their hunting and fishing license, tags for deer, elk, bear, mountain lion, turkey, salmon, steelhead, and permits to use archery and muzzleloader equipment. That is nearly a $70 savings over buying each item separately." If playing a game of chance is more your style, the Idaho Fish and Game also offers tickets for Super Hunts for individual deer, elk, antelope or moose hunts, and Super Hunt Combos for deer, elk, antelope and moose. The money raised from the purchase of these tickets goes to the Access Yes! program. The tickets can be purchased at any license vendor. Super Hunt tickets cost $6 for one and $4 for each additional ticket bought at the same time. Super Hunt Combo tickets cost $20 for one and $16 for each additional ticket bought at the same time. The first drawing is in June. The second drawing is in August. For more information, or to purchase gift certificate, stop by any Fish and Game regional office or headquarters in Boise.
