The Idaho Fish and Game Commission honored two hunter education instructors with its "Continuing the Hunting Heritage" award at its regular January meeting in Boise. Glenn Wing, Boise, was certified as a hunter education instructor in 1994. Over the last seven years, he has conducted 47 classes, certifying more than 1,100 students. He served as president of the Treasure Valley chapter of the Hunter Education Association in 2000. Greg Schreiber, Meridian, became a certified instructor in 1979. In his 21 years of service, he has been the lead instructor in 18 classes and has assisted in another 32 classes, teaching more than 1,200 students. He is one of 64 instructors in Idaho with more than 20 years of voluntary service to Fish and Game's hunter education program. In introducing the instructors, Southwest Region Hunter Education Coordinator Dan Papp told the Commissioners that the "heart of Idaho's hunter education program is the volunteers who provide the instruction. Glenn Wing and Greg Schreiber stand as examples of what each instructor teaches and encourages in their students: a sense of responsible behavior and good attitudeÑthe ability to make responsible choices that may affect landowners, hunters and nonhunters alike, and the natural resources of our state." "Glenn and Greg are special people, people who choose to give something back by sharing their knowledge, skills experience and their love of hunting with those new to the hunting adventures that lie ahead," Papp said.
