Idaho Fish and Game

Hunters to Weigh In on Bonus Points

idfg-staff
The Idaho Department of Fish and Game will be asking hunters whether they favor a bonus points system for controlled hunts. The system would theoretically increase the odds of those who have applied for controlled hunts but have not drawn. The department will send surveys to 1600 people who have applied for deer, elk, antelope and moose. It will also be available on the Fish and Game website in early September. The survey will include questions about a person's previous experiences with the controlled hunt process. It will also ask hunters whether they are satisfied with the current system or whether they would favor a system that would give bonus points to applicants who are not drawn. The survey will seek opinions on other options that might provide a smaller increase in a person's odds of drawing. Respondents will also be asked if they would be willing to pay higher application fees to cover the cost of implementing the system.
