Hunter Education Courses Winding Down

idfg-nnokkentved
There's still time to enroll and complete a hunter or bowhunter education course before the 2009 hunting season. But time draws short. All available courses are posted on the Fish and Game website at http://fishandgame.idaho.gov. Click on the Hunter and Bowhunter Education Registration box in the bottom middle of the home page to reach the site. "A number of courses are available right now, but will be scarce in the final weeks leading up to the start of hunting season," Fish and Game wildlife educator Dan Papp said. "Courses are taught by volunteers who will soon be preparing for their own hunting experiences." Traditional, instructor-led hunter education courses are available in Boise, Nampa, Caldwell, Mountain Home and Weiser. For students enrolled in a home study or internet course, field days necessary for course completion are available in Boise and McCall. With bowhunting season only weeks away, prospective first-time bowhunters have much less to choose from; only one instructor-led course is available in Boise. "It's possible that another course or two might be offered, but that will be up to our volunteer instructors," Papp said. "Again, this is the time of year when our bowhunter instructors begin to turn their attention to hunting season preparation."
