Hunter Education Course Offered In Moscow

idfg-staff
MOSCOW - - The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is offering a hunter education course for Moscow area youth. The course is scheduled to run from April 22 to May 11, 2002. It will be held 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., each day at Moscow Jr. High School, located at 1410 East D Street. Contact Jim Cash at 882-7040 to register. Fees for the student's workbook and ammunition are $8. Parents or legal guardians are encouraged to accompany their youth and participate in the entire program. IDFG provides 350 hunter education courses statewide each year. More than 60 percent of these courses are taught between January and April. All courses are taught by trained, volunteer instructors, that often times teach only winter and spring classes. The longer the student waits, the less likely there will be any volunteer instructors available to teach a course. Idaho law requires that anyone born after January 1st, 1975 must complete an IDFG hunter education course as a prerequisite to purchasing a hunting license. Students must be at least 11 years old to enroll in the course, which is a mix of classroom instruction and hands-on experiences that last approximately 12 hours.
