Idaho Fish and Game

Go Fish, No License Needed

idfg-staff
The one day each year that a fishing license is not required is Free Fishing Day-this year on June 10. To go fishing on any other day, anglers will need to buy a fishing license. Resident children under age 14 do not need a fishing license. Remember, all other fishing regulations still apply. Be sure to check the regulations for the area you intend to fish. Never been fishing before? No problem. Fishing events, sponsored by Idaho Department of Fish and Game regional offices, are planned all around the state. Fishing rods are usually provided, as well as some basic instruction on how to fish. In addition, at selected locations listed below, there will also be fun and educational activities for children.

¥ Coeur d'Alene-Ponderosa Springs Golf Course, from 7 to 11 a.m.

¥ Lewiston-Mann Lake, special event for first-timers, from 9 a.m. to noon.

¥ Boise-Parkcenter Pond with educational activities at the Morrison Knudsen Nature Center, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
