On Saturday March 16 at approximately 5:15 p.m., there was an explosion at the Fish and Game’s officer residence in Powell. The agency-owned residence had a propane system, and the explosion occurred during the final move out of belongings after the retirement of the resident conservation officer. Of the three people present at the time of the explosion, none received major injuries. The individual standing on the front porch at the time of the explosion received treatment for minor injuries in Missoula, whose hospital is nearest the residence. The residence was a total loss.
