Fish Salvage Declared For Big Lost River Below Blaine Diversion

idfg-staff
Effective Tuesday, July 31, 2001, a public fish salvage has been declared for the Big Lost River below the Blaine diversion in Butte County. The Blaine Diversion lies west of Highway 93, between Arco and Mackay, just upstream from the Big Lost River bridge crossing at milepost 98.8, 2.5 miles south of Leslie. The river will be dry, or nearly dry, due to drought conditions and irrigation withdrawals. Fish left in the river will likely die as water levels continue to drop. A public salvage removes all bag and possession limits on all fish in this portion of the river. A public salvage also allows fish to be taken by snagging, spearing, archery, dip nets, seines, buckets, shovels, or with the hands. Fish may not be taken with chemicals, explosives, firearms, or electric current. A valid fishing license is still required. This public salvage authorization is effective from July 31, 2001 through October 15, 2001.
