Idaho Fish and Game

Fish Limits Suspended at Two Local Reservoirs

idfg-staff
By order of the Department of Fish and Game, fish bag, possession and size limits at Indian Creek Reservoir and Black's Creek Reservoir have been suspended effective Monday, June 11. Anglers in possession of a valid fishing license are encouraged to catch as many fish from the two reservoirs as they can eat. Both reservoirs have fallen victim to Southern Idaho's current drought conditions and are expected to be nearly dry by mid-summer. In the last month, Fish and Game personnel have removed more than 5,000 bass and bluegill from Indian Creek Reservoir, transporting them to Boise-area urban ponds. "Water levels are now too low for us to do additional transplants," Fish and Game fisheries manager Jeff Dillon noted. "We want anglers to take the remaining fish home, rather than have them go to waste." As drought conditions continue, water levels in other regional waters are being closely monitored Dillon said, but only Indian Creek and Black's Creek Reservoirs are open to salvage at this time. As part of the limit suspension on the two reservoirs, anglers may use rod and reel, handheld landing nets and legal minnow seines to collect fish from the reservoir. All other collection methods are prohibited, and fish must be killed prior to transport from the catch site. For more information, contact Jeff Dillon at the Fish and Game Nampa office, 465-8465.
