Fish and Game Seeks Comments on Fish Management Plan

idfg-staff
The Idaho Department of Fish and Game needs help to identify the direction anglers want their fishery management to go over the next six years. Are anglers generally happy with the job Fish and Game has done? What is Fish and Game doing that anglers enjoy and support? If they're not happy, what do they want Fish and Game to do differently? Copies of the current 2001-2006 plan are available for review on Fish and Game's website, http://fishandgame.idaho.gov. Some key issues are native fish management, family fishing waters, access and access facilities, and bass management; are there enough bass fishing opportunities? All anglers are encouraged to tell Fish and Game what they are looking for in warmwater species fishing opportunities and their thoughts on hatchery fish, urban fisheries development, quality trout fisheries and other topics. The current plan is simply offered as a guide so anglers know how it is structured and how Fish and Game manages their favorite drainages. Fish and Game also plans to survey anglers statewide as another means to gather feedback. Angler opinions will help shape the direction of next fisheries management plan.
