Fish and Game Seeks Answers to Dumped Waterfowl

idfg-nnokkentved
Late in January, while on routine patrol, an Idaho Department of Fish and Game officer found a bunch of ducks and geese dumped in a ravine along Taylor Mountain Road outside Idaho Falls. "It appears that someone may have dumped the birds after waterfowl hunting season, which ended on January 19," senior conservation officer Dan Kelsey said. The birds were found whole with none of the meat taken-criminal waste under state and federal laws. The pile of 40 birds included 18 Canada geese, 16 mallards, four golden-eyes and two wigeons. The number of birds and the likely date involved mean that a variety of migratory waterfowl hunting violations probably also occurred. The number also could mean that more than one individual was involved in the wildlife crime. Anyone with information about this or other wildlife crimes may call the Idaho Falls office of Fish and Game at 525-7290, or the Citizens Against Poaching hotline at 1-800-632-5999. A reward may be available for information leading to the solving of this crime.
