Fish and Game Commission Meets This Week

Several big items are on the agenda of the Idaho Fish and Game Commission, which meets Wednesday and Thursday, March 5 and 6, in Boise. First up is a public comment period at 7 p.m. Wednesday, at the Doubletree Riverside, 2900 Chinden Boulevard, Boise. The commissioners will take up again at 8 a.m. Thursday in the Trophy Room of Idaho Fish and Game headquarters at 600 S. Walnut St. in Boise. At about 9:40 a.m., they are expected to act on the final Mule Deer Management Plan, which would guide mule deer management in Idaho for the next decade. The plan is available at http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/cms/public/. After a morning break, at about 10:30 a.m., the commissioners will take up the Idaho Wolf Population Management Plan. The version of the plan to be presented to the commissioners is available online at: http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/cms/wildlife/wolves/state/draft_plan/WolfP… After lunch, at about 1 p.m., commissioners also are expected to set big game seasons for deer, elk, antelope, bear and mountain lion. At about 3:15 p.m., commissioners will hear an update on possible spring and summer Chinook salmon seasons. Times on the commission agenda are approximate and subject to change.
