Daisy Outdoor Products will help ensure the future of elk, other wildlife and their habitat by increasing their support for the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation in 2003. Daisy will be sponsoring youth events at the 19th Annual Elk Camp and Exposition in Reno, Nevada; the Galyan's Intermountain Regional Elk Camp in Broomfield, CO., and in the 2003 banquet merchandise catalog. Daisy and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation are celebrating their conservation partnership by announcing a new youth essay contest - "Take Aim At Safety." All kids ages 8-15, are invited to enter a 250-750-word essay that answers the following question: How do the important principles of shooting safety extend into other aspects of hunting? One lucky winner will receive a trip to Elk Camp in Reno, Nevada, February 27-March 2, 2003, including full registration to all events, roundtrip airfare to Reno and 3-nights stay at the Reno Hilton for themselves and one parent or guardian. The winning essay will also be 1 in the Elk Foundation's Bugle magazine. "We feel all experienced hunters and conservationists have an obligation to introduce young people to the great outdoors, to perpetuate hunting and help preserve wildlife habitat for the next generation," said Joe Murfin, director of marketing for Daisy Outdoor Products. Murfin said the partnership is a natural one: that Daisy and the Elk Foundation both care about bringing young people into shooting and hunting sports safely. To further advance their commitment of safe shooting, the new Daisy sponsored "Spike Camp for Kids" seminars at Elk Camp in Reno this year will include gun safety seminars and the Daisy shooting range. Send essays to: "Take Aim At Safety" Essay Contest. Attention: Don Burgess, Bugle Hunting Editor. PO Box 8249, Missoula, MT 59802. Essay deadline is January 1, 2003. Winners' names will be posted on the foundation's website elkfoundation.org on January 15, 2003. First through fifth places will receive a Daisy Red Ryder BB gun.
