Dworshak To Receive 40,000 Rainbow Trout In April

OROFINO - The Idaho Department of Fish and Game will stock 40,000 catchable-sized rainbow trout into Dworshak Reservoir the next few weeks. Approximately 20,000 trout will be released at the Dent boat ramp this week. The trout will be stocked at Dent due to probable increases in water release at the dam. An additional 20,000 trout will be stocked on April 15. IDFG plans to release the fish at Big Eddy, depending on the reservoir water release schedule IDFG usually divides the fish among several boat ramps including Dent, Big Eddy and Canyon Creek. However, when the dam is releasing large quantities of water, IDFG plants the fish farther up the reservoir so that the fish will not be flushed through the dam. Canyon Creek is also very difficult to access when using large hatchery transport trucks, which will be used for these stockings.
