The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's notice of plans to develop a proposal to remove gray wolves in the northern Rocky Mountains from the federal list of threatened and endangered species is available in the Federal Register. The Fish and Wildlife Service would establish a distinct population segment of gray wolves in the Northern Rocky Mountains. The area would include all of Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming and parts of eastern Washington and Oregon and north central Utah. After an adequate state regulatory framework for wolf management in Wyoming is approved, a proposal to remove the wolves from the list would be 1 for public review and comment. The notice is available in the Federal Register and can be found at: http://westerngraywolf.fws.gov/ANPR_Feb_8_2006.pdf. Public comments on the proposal should be mailed to: U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Ed Bangs, 585 Shepard Way, Helena, MT 59601. Comments must be submitted by close of business April 10.
