Commission to Meet in St. Maries

The Idaho Fish and Game Commission will meet July 7-9 at the Federal Building at Seventh and College in the north Idaho town of St. Maries. A public hearing will be held July 7 at 7 p.m. Regular meetings are set for July 8 and 9 beginning at 8 a.m. Meetings will be held in the downstairs conference room. Major action items on the agenda include approval of bighorn sheep tags for auction and lottery, consideration of 2005 legislative proposals, consideration of a lease for a new regional office in Jerome, and approval of a final version of the department's strategic plan. The commission will hear a report on the mule deer ecology study done by biologist Mark Hurley in the Southeast Region, an update on the mule deer initiative by state wildlife game manager Brad Compton, and an update on white-tailed deer by Jim Hayden, Panhandle Region wildlife manager. On July 9, Fisheries Bureau staff will present a workshop on fish population dynamics.
