Commission to Meet January 15-17

The Idaho Fish and Game Commission will hold its annual meeting January 15-17 at Fish and Game headquarters, 600 South Walnut in Boise. A public hearing is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, Jan.15 at the same location. Daytime meetings will begin at 8:00 a.m. each day. The commission will have a workshop from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. January 15 on the "Access YES" proposal by the Fish and Game Advisory Committee to purchase access to private land for hunting and fishing. The Committee authored the proposal. Later in the meeting the commission is expected to vote on the proposal. Trophy species regulations for 2003-2004 are on the agenda. Proposals include a decrease of one permit for bighorn sheep and seven permits for mountain goats, and increase of one antlered and 84 antlerless moose permits. The Commission will discuss exemptions from the once in a lifetime rule for auction and lottery tags and antlerless moose. The commission gavel will pass to incoming 2003 chair Alex Irby at this meeting.
