Commission Changes Bear Seasons

Meeting by conference call March 24, the Idaho Fish and Game Commission made changes to the spring black bear season in the Clearwater Region to encourage increased harvest. This action made the new spring black bear rules effective immediately. The action changed Unit 10 rules to allow a two-bear bag limit in all of the unit rather than just a part of it. It also changed the spring season in units 8A and 10A to April 15 through May 31, with a dog training season June 1-July 31. Previously the season ended May 15. In Unit 16, the season will run April 15-June 30, followed by a dog training season July 1-31. Previously it ended May 15. The conference call was attended by commission chair Alex Irby and commissioners John Watts, Roy Moulton and Marcus Gibbs, who voted unanimously to approve the changes.
