idfg-staff
Meeting by conference call November 8, the Idaho Fish and Game Commission voted to rescind the hunting season closure in game management unit 28 near Salmon. The order is effective Thursday, November 9. The Forest Service also will lift its access closure on all but a few roads, which will be closed with locked gates. The entire area will be accessible for normal non-motorized travel. It has been closed to hunting since September 18, after the Forest Service closed a large area for fire control and rehabilitation. A week-long spike elk hunt opened November10, and an antlerless-only controlled elk hunt that runs through November 30. An antlerless-only archery hunt runs December 1-31, concurrently with an archery hunt for any antlered deer and a doe season on whitetails.
