Clearwater River Salmon Season To Close On May 26, 2003

idfg-staff
OROFINO - - The salmon fishing season on the mainstem Clearwater River from the Railroad Bridge in Lewiston upstream to the Orofino Bridge; and the North Fork Clearwater River below Dworshak Dam will close Monday May 26, 2003 one hour after sunset. The sport fishery harvest quota has been met. Because continued harvest could jeopardize production goals at the Dworshak National Fish Hatchery at Ahsahka, the Department authorized closure of the chinook salmon fishing season in these river sections at the end of salmon fishing hours on May 26. Salmon seasons on the lower Salmon River and Little Salmon River near Riggins remain open and unaffected by the Clearwater closure. The South Fork Salmon River salmon season will begin on June 18, 2003. Anglers are encouraged to review the current fishing regulations for detailed information.
