Idaho Fish and Game

Bull Moose Shot

idfg-staff
Fish and Game is currently investigating the apparent illegal killing of a bull moose in the Antelope Creek drainage just below Cherry Creek outside of Mackay. Moose occasionally move through this area late in the year and this animal obviously became the target of a poacher. The moose was found approximately 60 yards off the Antelope Creek road. Both of the animal's antlers had been removed, but the meat was untouched. Given the state of the carcass, Conservation Officer Dave Silcock believes that the moose was killed between the beginning and middle of January. This is the third moose to have been illegally shot in this area in as many years. All three animals were wasted with no attempt made to harvest any meat. Any information regarding this wildlife crime is important. Even just hearing about someone who recently acquired some moose antlers could be valuable. If you have any such information, please call the Citizens Against Poaching Hotline at 1-800-632-5999 or contact officer Dave Silcock at 554-4702. You may remain anonymous if you wish.
