Bowhunter Education Course Offered In Grangeville

idfg-staff
GRANGEVILLE - - Although hunting seasons remain several months away, spring bow hunter education classes are now forming. Because of high interest and limited space, prospective students are encouraged to register for classes soon so they can complete the course in time to buy a license to hunt this fall. A Grangeville-area bowhunter education course is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, May 4 and 5th. On Saturday, the course will be held at the new school building located at 400 S. Idaho Street in Grangeville from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. On Sunday, the course will be held at the Camas Prairie archery range located off the Grangeville-Salmon River road from 8:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. Refreshments will be provided both days, but students are encouraged to bring a lunch on Saturday. For more information and to register for this class, contact Howard Donaldson at 983-2413. Students must be at least 11-years old to enroll. Fees for the student's workbook and course materials are $8. Parents or legal guardians are encouraged to accompany the students and participate in the entire program. IDFG provides several hundred bow hunter education courses statewide each year, with more than 60 percent of these courses taught between January and April. All courses are taught by trained, volunteer instructors, that often times teach only spring classes. Each course is a mix of classroom instruction and hands-on experiences that last approximately 12 - 16 hours.
