Idaho Fish and Game

Bird Seasons Draw to Close

idfg-staff
Idaho's game bird seasons are over or soon will be. Pheasant and quail seasons ended December 31 but upland bird hunters can still pursue chukar and gray partridge throughout the entire state through January 15. Pheasant hunting ended November 30 in the eastern half of the state. Duck and goose hunters have until the close of shooting hours January 20 to hunt web-footed birds in most areas of the state. Duck hunting ends January 18 and goose hunting ends January 11 in the Fort Hall area. New hunting licenses are required as of January 1. The federal "duck stamp" required for all waterfowl hunting remains valid through the end of the season.
