Big Game Trophy Measuring Day Set

idfg-staff
Many hunters have reported great success this past hunting season with numerous reports of big trophies being harvested. Hunters who took trophy animals last season or any past season have a golden opportunity to have them measured by certified measurers. The Idaho Department of Fish and Game has scheduled a trophy display and big game measuring event for the North Idaho Fairgrounds. Cleaned trophy antlers, horns and skulls may be brought to the North Idaho Wildlife Education Building on Friday February 24 from 1-8 pm, or Saturday February 25 from 9-noon. Trophies will be on display until 6 pm Saturday evening. There is no charge to have specimens measured and no charge to visit the display. Measurers certified by the Boone and Crockett Club, Pope and Young Club, and the Longhunter Society will measure hunter-taken animals and picked-up specimens using the scoring system appropriate to the method of take of the trophy. Individuals may enter as many specimens as they like. Only wild specimens will be measured. Measurers will not measure specimens from game farms or high-fenced enclosures. Anyone with an antlered or horned animal is encouraged to enter it into the show, mounted or not, regardless of year taken. Specimens previously measured by an official measurer will not be scored again but will be placed on display. Trophies delivered on Saturday will be measured as long as the time availability of the scorers permits. IDFG is asking that anyone planning to enter bring specimens in on Friday evening if at all possible. That way we can have many of the entries measured when people stop in on Saturday. Trophies must be picked up between 5 and 6 pm on Saturday, after people have had the opportunity to enjoy the display. There is not much going on to satisfy the outdoor cravings of local sportsmen. With this event comes the opportunity to meet with others of similar interests to re-live the past hunting seasons, and to share excitement about hunting and fishing outings to come.
