Contact: Gayle Valentine, Executive Director Idaho Fish and Wildlife Foundation or Lynnea Compton at (208) 334-2648 If fishing, river floating, backpacking and bird watching are on your "to do" list this year, you may want to tune into the Idaho Fish and Wildlife Foundation's fourteenth Annual Radio Auction on April 28, 2004. This event, co-sponsored by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) is the foundation's largest fundraiser, attracting hunters and anglers as well as hikers and wildlife watchers. Radio listeners phone in bids to compete for the trips, which are offered in every corner of the state. This year's adventures include:
  • a four-day backpacking adventure to Snow Peak in northern Idaho
  • a jet boat trip and overnight stay at Kirby Creek Lodge, Hells Canyon
  • a two-night back country trip to monitor wild salmon in Central Idaho
  • getaway trips to the Teton Mountains of eastern Idaho
  • a two-night stay at Ball Creek Ranch Preserve in Bonners Ferry
  • a two-day bird watching/monitoring trip to the Lemhi Valley
The auction, hosted by KIDO's Dave Burnett with special appearances by Jon Duane and Cris Kelly, will be broadcast Wednesday, April 28, 2004 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. MDT. Clear Channel Communications Network stations carrying the auction include KIDO-AM 580 in Boise, KID-AM 590 in Idaho Falls, and KWIK-AM 1240 in Pocatello. The number to call to enter a bid in the Treasure Valley is 580-5436. Outside the Boise area, call 1-888-580-5436. Starting in mid-April, a list of all auction trips will be available at www.ifwf.org. The 2003 radio auction raised over $10,000 to build trails and fund habitat improvements at an outdoor classroom for students in Salmon. "The classroom is used for hands-on studies of riparian habitat and wildlife. The 2004 proceeds will benefit another education or conservation project as well as introduce the foundation to listeners who may be unfamiliar with our mission," said Idaho Fish and Wildlife Foundation Executive Director Gayle Valentine. The Idaho Fish and Wildlife Foundation is a non-profit organization established in 1990 to protect and sustain Idaho's fishing, hunting and wildlife heritage. Board members represent each region of the state.
