Recently the Fish and Game Commission awarded grant funding to the Western Bear Foundation to distribute free cans of bear spray in the Island Park area through the Commission Community Challenge Grant. This exciting grant program provides competitive funding for officially recognized non-profit organizations to implement projects that are broadly supported by the local sportsman community and enhance fish and wildlife habitat, populations, or associated recreational opportunities.
The Western Bear Foundation is a non-profit that operates in Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming and is dedicated to the protection & development of bears, bear habitat, & bear hunting in the states of Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming. The WBF will use the grant funding to purchase cans of bear spray that will be given to recreationists who present a current, valid Idaho hunting and/or fishing license.
