Q. My youngster will be participating in the special deer youth hunt in units 40 and 41 (Owyhee County). Since young hunters can harvest either sex of deer in this area during this hunt, can my youngster shoot a monster buck, if she happens upon one? A. The short answer is no. While it is true that hunters 12 to 17 years of age can harvest a buck or a doe during a youth hunt only season, in this case, the two-point restriction in units 40 and 41 remains in force. Does and bucks up to two points in size are legal quarry for your youngster in this hunt area.
