by Gary Hompland, Regional Conservation Officer Question: "What are the rules for bow fishing?" Answer: Bow fishing is a combination of hunting with a bow for bullfrogs unprotected non-game fish species such as carp. Only bull frogs and unprotected non-game species may be taken and you must possess a valid fishing license. Bow fishing is only allowed in waters during periods when the season is open for game fish. If you have any further questions you may call the Magic Valley Regional Office of the Idaho Department of Fish and Game at (208)324-4350 or e-mail us at the Fish and Game web site at http://fishandgame.idaho.gov.
