Anxious Spring Anglers - Give Trout A Try

idfg-staff
LEWISTON - Anglers depressed over the low salmon returns are reminded that the Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) has recently stocked several area lakes and reservoirs with rainbow trout. "There's plenty of great fishing action close to home," says Robert Hand, fisheries biologist with IDFG. "Several area waters have been stocked, so now's the time to get out there and enjoy it." As of last week, over 62,000 catchable-sized rainbow trout were released at the following locations:
Mann Lake 21,000

Winchester Lake 21,000

Moose Creek Reservoir 8,100

Spring Valley Reservoir 10,800

Hordeman Pond 700

Levee Pond 418
IDFG also plans to re-stock these waters as well as others by the end of May. The number of trout actually released may be altered by weather, water conditions, equipment problems or schedule changes. If delays occur, trout will be stocked when conditions become favorable. Idaho anglers can view the stocking schedule to their favorite fishing water by visiting the Department's website at http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/apps/stocking/
