About the position

Sawtooth Fish Hatchery is seeking one (1) Fisheries Technician (benefited) to assist with trapping, spawning, and rearing of Chinook salmon.

Dates Needed: July 29, 2024, through March 28, 2025 (some flexibility is available with exact start and end dates)

General Information
With or without reasonable accommodations, incumbents must be able to stand and work in cold water for up to five hours per shift, lift and carry equipment weighing up to 60 pounds, and work in extreme weather conditions. Dormitory style housing is provided.

Incumbents will work 40 hours per week. Work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Occasional weekend work rotations will also be required.
Qualifications
Applicants must be able to work independently and follow set protocols, and be well organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and safety conscious. Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver's license.

Fisheries related experience and education are strongly preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities
Assist in the trapping, spawning, and rearing of Chinook salmon; perform routine fish culture duties, including feeding fish, weighing out fish feed, and cleaning and caring for fish rearing vessels; clean and maintain facilities, grounds, and equipment; interact with the public in a professional and positive manner and assist with hatchery tours.
