For the second consecutive year, nearly 1,000 8- to 12-inch hatchery Tiger Muskie have been stocked into Lake Lowell. Initiated in 2019, IDFG hopes to stock Tiger Muskie into the lake annually. While this program aims to add a new and unique fishing opportunity in southwest Idaho, biologists also hope these predators might help to control the over-abundant carp and sucker populations in the lake. A similar program was initiated at Black Canyon Reservoir in 2019 as well. However, due to a shortage of hatchery fish in 2020, the water was not stocked. IDFG hopes to reinitiate stocking there in 2020.
