Idaho Department of Fish and Game Officers are investigating a poached doe pronghorn antelope found north of Mountain Home. The doe's twin fawns were also discovered nearby, with one fawn shot through both rear legs. "We found a doe pronghorn shot and left to waste with two little fawns, one of which was also shot and wounded," said Greg Milner, Idaho Fish and Game Conservation Officer. "Both animals were likely shot May 31 or June 1." The two fawns were transported to Dr. Liz Scott at the Idaho Equine Hospital in Nampa where they will receive medical attention and hopefully be placed in the care of a wildlife rehabilitator. Evidence collected at the scene indicated that both pronghorn were shot with a high-powered rifle. No attempt was made to retrieve any part from the adult doe. The crime occurred just north of the Danskin Power Plant north of Mountain Home. The area is used frequently by recreational shooters and the officers hope that someone in the area knows something about the crime. "This is a heavily used shooting area and I'd love to speak with anyone who may have any information on this senseless act," said Milner. Anyone with any information on this crime is encouraged to call the Elmore County Sheriff's Office at (208) 587-3370 or the Citizens Against Poaching (CAP) hotline at 1-800-632-5999. Callers to the CAP hotline are eligible for a reward and can remain anonymous.
