James Rich / Jennifer Jackson 232-4703 or 251-9403 POCATELLO - Idaho Fish and Game and Pheasants Forever are once again teaming up to bring the experience of Idaho hunting to youth in the Southeast region. The Youth Pheasant Clinic will be held on Saturday, November 4th, at the Sterling Wildlife Management Area located near Aberdeen. The clinic will be divided into two sessions, with a morning session running from 8:00 am until 12:30 pm and an afternoon session running from 12:30 pm until 5:00 pm. The clinic is open to licensed hunters aged 10-17, though space is limited. Lunch will be provided. The clinic is free of charge. The Youth Pheasant Clinic has been around since 1995. This educational and safety clinic focuses on skill development for young emerging hunters, and gives many their first shot at hunting. Participants will learn about shot distance, handling their fire arm and patterning their shot guns. They will apply their newly learned skills on clay pigeons and targets. Conservation and pheasant management will also be a part of the clinic. Only a limited number of youth will be able to take advantage of the mentored field experience that will follow the clinic. During the field experiences, each youth will be accompanied by a coach and a dog handler with dog. Sterling Wildlife Management Area is open to the public for hunting, so those individuals not involved in the mentored field experiences are still welcome to enjoy hunting at the Wildlife Management Area on that day. This clinic is a great opportunity for youth who have not had the privilege of hunting in the great outdoors. This clinic is made possible because of the efforts of many volunteers from all over the Southeast region. If you are interested in signing up your youth for this clinic, call the Pocatello Fish and Game office at 232-4703.
