Steelhead are back in the Boise River, according to Idaho anadromous fisheries program coordinator Bill Horton.
Fish and Game moved about 400 steelhead from its Hells Canyon trap below Oxbow Dam on April 5. The fish were released around noon.
Steelhead were released at several locations in Boise, from Glenwood Bridge to Barber Park. Steelhead permits are required. Limits will be three per day and nine in possession. The season limit in the Boise River is 40 if a second steelhead permit is purchased. Harvest must be recorded on the permit.
Horton reported that there may still be some steelhead in the river from releases last fall. This may be the only release for the spring season, he said.
