idfg-nnokkentved
Bob Ringer of Hayden brought in a new Idaho record northern pike on the morning of Tuesday, April 17. He hauled the monster pike out of Coeur d'Alene Lake's Cougar Bay, weighing in at 39 pounds, 13 ounces, 48.5 inches long with a 27.5-inch girth. That's more than a pound heavier than the previous record. Two northern pike have weighed in at 38 pounds 9 ounces each. The first one was caught in Coeur d'Alene Lake by Dennis Hicks of Post Falls April 11, 1992, and the second fish the same size was caught in Hayden Lake by Walter Estes of Spirit Lake March 19, 2002. Hicks caught his record fish on a spoon, and Estes caught his record-tying fish on smelt. Ringer caught his record breaker on a dead perch.
