Mountain Lion Season in Units 56 and 57 Closed

A third female mountain lion has been taken from the combined hunt area of game management units 56 (Sublette) and 57 (Black Pine). This cat was harvested on Thursday, February 8, 2001. According to regulations, the harvest season for cougar in those two units is officially closed effective the afternoon of February 8, 2001.

Effective Friday, February 9, a dog training season for lions is in effect and runs through March 31, 2001. During this dog-training season, lions may be pursued and treed, but they may not be captured, killed or possessed.

Anyone wishing to participate in this dog-training season should consult the Idaho 2000 Big Game Seasons regulation brochure for details and specific requirements for this activity.
