MK Nature Center Offers Educational Summer Activities

Parents interested in getting the kids away from the TV this summer will have to look no further than the MK Nature Center. The following list of activities available this month also includes some great opportunities for adults. Native Plants: Gardening for Wildlife June 16 5:00-7:00PM Join the Nature Center's Native Plant Wildlife Gardener as she walks you through how to use native plants to garden for wildlife. Learn what plants attract wildlife, how and when to plant, and even take a tour of the nature center garden to see how native plants and wildlife co-exist. Space is limited so call 334-2225 to pre-register. Cost is $5 and includes plants to start your own garden. Father's Day Gyotaku June 19 11:00AM -4:00PM Make a fish print with your dad for Fathers Day Using the Japanese art of gyotaku, you can use a fish to make a personalized art project on paper or even bring your own t-shirt to print on Free. Stroller Stroll June 24 10:30AM Bring your stroller and kids for a relaxing guided walk through the MK Nature center path. Meet in front of the nature center, all ages welcome. Pond Detectives June 25 10:00-11:30AM Want to find out what lurks below in the Nature Center pond? Use scoopers, nets, magnifying glasses, and your hands to investigate pond life that is not so obvious to the naked eye. Discoveries will be combined with the plants and animals that you can see at the pond every day. Ages 6-10 welcome. Sign up ahead of time by calling 334-2225. Using the five senses at the MK Nature Center June 30 6:00-7:30PM Learn how to use all five senses at the Nature Center. Focus will be on things you can hear, touch, taste, smell, and see at the nature center with inside instruction and an outside walk. All ages welcome.
