Hunters can attend an open house or review the plans online and comment

Fish and Game wildlife managers from across the state are asking deer hunters to review and comment on the department’s draft management plans for mule deer and white-tailed deer, and the Magic Valley Region will host an open house at the Jerome office in the Highway 93 Business Park on June 12 from 3 to 8 p.m. to discuss the draft plans and receive comments. Public comments will be accepted until June 28 at the open house, online, or by calling any Fish and Game regional office.

Draft plans are available online for review and online comments if you're unable to attend an open house:

Mule Deer Plan

White-tailed Deer Plan

Drafted after extensive hunter surveys, both plans focus on population management and hunting season frameworks to maintain sustainable deer herds and meet hunters’ expectations. The department is now asking for additional input on the overall concepts of the draft plans, and whether topics are missing or other suggested areas for improvement.

After public review and comment, wildlife managers will incorporate hunter input before presenting final drafts to the Fish and Game Commission later this summer.  Once adopted, the plans will guide deer management over the next six years.
