IDFG Seeks Public Comment On Proposed Nonbiological Changes

idfg-staff
IDAHO FALLS - As we look back at the past, we often wonder if things could have been done differently. Wildlife management is the same way. Animal populations fluctuate; habitat changes, and human perceptions shift perspective. As part of its regulation setting process for the future, IDFG is seeking public input on what it calls nonbiological changes. Changes that while being important are more people management related than biological. Detailed information about the following changes is available at any IDFG Office or at the IDFG Website at www2.state.id.us/fishgame/news/newadditions/survey/survey.cfm. The four topics up for comment are: 1. How to handle unclaimed controlled hunt tags and permits. 2. How to handle waiting period for leftover tag and permit sales. 3. Regulation requiring that evidence of sex remains intact. 4. Restrictions regarding the collection of shed antlers in certain units. "Each of these topics has a component that the public might have strong personal preferences or feelings about, that is why IDFG is seeking input." Says Regional Conservation Educator Gregg Losinski of the Upper Snake Region. Public wishing to provide comment to the regional office may do so via a number of methods. Direct phone calls can be placed to 208-525-7290 or through the Idaho Relay Service at 1-800-377-3529(TDD) or faxed to 208-523-7604. Written comments can be dropped off or verbally relayed to at staff member at the regional office located at 1515 Lincoln Road in Idaho Falls. For those using the Internet, comments can be posted directly to Boise headquarters staff at the link above or specific regional concerns can be E-mailed to Acting-Regional Wildlife Manager Justin Naderman at jnaderman@idfg.state.id.us. Because comments must be processed before being turned over to the Idaho Fish & Game Commission for consideration at their mid-January meeting, all comments should be turned in by Wednesday, January 8.
