IDFG Looking For Info On Moose Poachers

idfg-staff
ASHTON -The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is asking the public for assistance in finding the person or persons responsible for shooting a bull moose and leaving it to rot in the desert north of St. Anthony. A $500 reward is being offered for information that leads to the case being solved. The dead moose was found by a couple hunters on Monday, October 22, due north of St. Anthony, in the desert. By the time Fish and Game officers arrived at the moose, the meat was starting to spoil. "Whoever shot the bull, just left it. They didn't even try to take the antlers." local Conservation Officer Charlie Anderson stated. "If someone accidentally shot the moose, they could have contacted the Sheriff or Fish and Game. We could have salvaged the meat and handed it out to folks in our community needing assistance." Using temperature readings from the carcass and assessing the extent of rigor mortis that had set in, Fish and Game officers believe the moose was shot between 11:00AM and 3:00PM on that Monday. A $500 reward is being offered to anyone having information on the individuals responsible for shooting the bull moose. Callers can remain anonymous if they desire. Individuals with information can contact Idaho Fish & Game in Idaho Falls at 525-7290 or Citizens Against Poaching (CAP) hotline at 1-800-632-5999.
