idfg-staff
OROFINO - - With salmon fishing growing in popularity across the state, the Idaho Department of Fish and Game has teamed up with several experienced salmon anglers to offer a salmon angling clinic to be held on the North Fork Clearwater River near Orofino on June 8th. The clinic is designed to introduce beginning salmon anglers ages 10 to 17 and over 55 to the thrill of salmon angling. The Army Corps of Engineers will close the area know as the "Wall" and a section of shore line to the general public for the one-day event. IDFG personnel and experienced local anglers will be on hand to demonstrate various angling techniques and assist anglers in catching their first salmon. The clinic is free and IDFG will provide lunch and a limited supply of salmon rods, reels and gear. Participants are encouraged to bring their own equipment if available. Since June 8th is Free Fishing Day in Idaho, a fishing license and salmon permit is not required. Space is limited, so for more information and to register, contact IDFG at 799-5010 by May 10.
