Fish & Game Heading To Rexburg Saturday

Representatives from Idaho Fish and Game will be in Rexburg to meet with the public on Saturday, January 17. The Fish and Game information table will be set up from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. just inside the entrance to the C-A-L Ranch Store at 404 N 2nd E, Rexburg. Idaho Fish and Game is not abandoning its traditional evening public meeting format, but response to their informal meeting opportunity held at the Sportsman's Warehouse in Ammon went so well last week, that a similar opportunity was planned for the C-A-L Ranch Store in Rexburg. "We had lots of good contacts with the public, and the vast majority supported our increase proposal," regional conservation educator Gregg Losinski said. Representatives from the various disciplines, such as wildlife and enforcement were on hand to talk about ongoing management programs and how the proposed revenue increase would affect future Fish and Game operations. "Fish and Game wants sportsmen to know that we're running on empty, and before the vapors run, out we need their support to get a fee increase approved by the legislature," Losinski said. "The staff answered plenty of questions about how deer and elk were being impacted by wolves; but more importantly sportsmen were able to learn that all management ultimately depends on the resources available to get the job done." There was so much interest at the Sportsmen's Warehouse meeting, that Fish and Game stayed longer than planned. "We'll do that again in Rexburg," Losinski said. "Our goal is to let the public know what it takes to manage their fish & wildlife resources."
