Family Fishing Waters Offer Consistent Catch, Lots of Fun

Parents anxious to pry the kids away from TV and computer games can easily kindle a wholesome interest this summer with a quick trip to the nearest Family Fishing Waters. Idaho Fish and Game has more than 80 such destinations around the state. Ranging from rivers and streams to ponds and even rehabilitated gravel pits, they are stocked with plenty of hatchery trout ready to take the bait. Youngsters can also expect to hook lots of bluegill and bass, depending on where in the state they are. Family Fishing Waters program was established to promote fishing as a family activity. Each destination is easy to get to and the fishing rules have been simplified; just remember, a six trout limit per person. Two new Family Fishing Waters opened this spring - Steamboat Pond in the Panhandle Region and Deer Creek Reservoir in the Clearwater Region.
