Communications Chief Named

Michael Keckler, Boise, has been named chief of the Idaho Fish and Game Communications Bureau. Director Steve Huffaker announced the appointment Monday, December 11. Keckler has served as public information officer at the Idaho Department of Water Resources since 2004. He worked part of that year at Fish and Game in the Communications Bureau before going to Water Resources. Keckler replaces Roger Fuhrman who left Fish and Game earlier this fall to lead Oregon Fish and Wildlife communications operations. Keckler, a Pocatello native, worked most of his early career in radio and television in Idaho. He received two national investigative reporting awards as a television journalist: the Alfred I. duPont Award from Columbia University and the Edward R. Murrow Award from the Radio Television News Directors Association. He is also a three-time Emmy Award winner who has been recognized several times by the Idaho Press Club and the Idaho State Broadcasters Association Keckler holds a bachelor's degree in mass communications from Idaho State University. He is married and has two children.
