Comments Sought For Final Draft Of Mountain Lion Plan

idfg-staff
The Idaho Fish and Game is seeking public comments on the final Mountain Lion Management Plan, and has scheduled an open house meeting in Lewiston on Thursday, June 13 from 8 a.m to 5 p.m. at the Clearwater Region office located at 1540 Warner Ave. In December and January, IDFG conducted nine open house meetings throughout the state, collecting comments from 462 people, 209 of which were mountian lion hunters. Comments were summarized and a draft plan was presented to the Fish and Game Commission in March, who then in turn adopted the option to manage mountain lions to maintain their current distribution throughout the state and attempt to maintain the current level of recreational opportunity for hunting. This meeting provides the opportunity for folks to review the draft plan and make written comments. Those unable to attend the meeting can review an information packet and comment at the Clearwater Region office in Lewiston. Comments can also be submitted online by visting IDFG's website at http://www2.state.id.us/fishgame/. The plan, background information and comment form can be found by going to the "What's News" section then "New Additions." Written comments can also be mailed to the Headquarters office in Boise by June 30th.
