Access Yes Participant Imposes Fire Restrictions

idfg-nnokkentved
Continued hot, dry conditions have led one private land owner in central Idaho to impose fire and access restrictions on their property in late July. Until further notice, open fires and motorized access are prohibited on all Western Pacific Timber LLC lands. Western Pacific owns 126,000 acres of timbered lands from Smith's Ferry to New Meadows, all of which is available to hunters through Fish and Game's Access Yes program. The acreage is spread across portions of hunt units 23 and 24. Western Pacific Timber lands are closed to camping and motorized vehicles. "Early season elk hunters may park at the property line or along public roads and walk, cycle or ride a horse onto Western Pacific Timber property," Fish and Game wildlife manager Jeff Rohlman noted. A short-range-weapons-only elk hunt began in units 23 and 24 on August 15 and runs through September 30. For more information, contact Fish and Game's McCall office at 634-8137.
